Traffic Jams Gurgaon: A Daily Suffering for Every Gurgaoite

Posted by Gurgaon Renewal Mission On 23:33 | No comments
Every resident of Gurgaon constantly faces the onslaught of a traffic jam. So much so, that the rowdy cars’ Traffic Jams Gurgaon streets. The citizens have become impatient with the conditions, especially all the office employees who have to spend most of their time on Gurgaon roads. Neither are they able to reach their homes on time nor their offices.

The Traffic Congestion in Gurgaon has become a routine plight of every commuter. For those people who travel by the MG Road, their daily commute has become nothing but a headache. The construction work on the main road has become a prick, annoying every single car or truck driver. These conditions will not be tolerated for much longer.

The constant practice of construction in every nook and cranny of the city is the grievance of every traveler.  There is absolutely no relief. With dust in the air and traffic on the road, the citizens of the city only get annoyed on the roads. There are constant accidents which have become inescapable. This combination of rowdy and aggressive drivers does no good and is the source of all the anger for the Gurgaon traffic police.

With so many commercial offices in Gurgaon the commuters are plenty and options are few. People are constantly facing throughout the day. Another major problem is the absence of better public vehicles. There are very few buses especially when it comes to the internal routes of Gurgaon.

These problems will not go away if strict measure and changes are not made on the roads as well in places which are facing constant construction.  An urgent attention needs to be paid on the roads. While the Rapid Metro in Gurgaon has begun there is still a long way to go for the Gurgaon Metro project. Once that is taken care of citizens of Gurgaon may finally have some relief.

This notorious Traffic Jams Gurgaon streets completely. With no place to go and no strict vigilance on the traffic the people try to make their own rules and worsen the situation even more. Many areas in the city are jammed so completely that they constantly require traffic cops to ensure that no accidents take place.

Problems, problems, problems! Gurgaon’s name is synonymous to problems, assorted problems, general problems, traffic glitches, local transport problem, specific ones and more. Among all the problems, traffic problems top the chart, with people in the city certainly going for a roller coaster ride when they are out with their vehicles on roads. Traffic Congestion in Gurgaon is one of the worst problems the city people face not just during peak hours but during normal and irregular hours also.

The situation becomes worse than the worst (occasionally) due to religious processions, celebrations, marriage parties, and other such activities going around the city. The problem can be mainly attributed to the bumpy and unconstructed roads, ongoing repair works, ongoing sewerage repair and construction, seasonal repair & other works, narrow roads, bad transport map, traffic jams, lack of proper administration, lack of adequate infrastructure, disproportionately increasing population of vehicles to the numbers of people (generally a family of four usually either have 4 or at least more than 2 cars), local transport problem, people’s uncooperative behavior with the traffic administration and conditions following which they frequently flout traffic rules preferably in unmanned traffic posts, lack of adequate drainage systems which play foul during rains and make roads a bumpy and lethal rides for bikers and drivers, and more. Lack of proper and functional street and road lights also contribute their bit to traffic congestion in Gurgaon.

Local Transportation Problem also encourages the traffic conditions to go worse during peak and off-peak hours in all the major entry and exit points of the city including Delhi-Gurgaon Toll Plaza, Shankar Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Kapashera Border, Badarpur Border, and Faridabad joint among the others. People, especially women do not rely on public transport vehicles and prefer to travel in their own vehicles in the fear of inadequate police patrolling and checks on them, dark/wee times, rising crimes against women, less or no connectivity at all in some areas, and low frequency and slow service of city buses.

Since the normal and routine life of the city gets severely affected, Gurgaon Renewal Mission, an autonomous body and mission run under the courtesies of HUDA Administration and Gurgaon’s deputy/municipal/police commissioners and councillors and mayor, has taken up the matter to invent and implement the effective traffic solutions which battle against the bottlenecks of traffic congestion problem while simultaneously improving the local transport system and administration, conditions of roads, drainage systems, and more.

To help this movement succeed in this mission, a diehard and continuous support and cooperation from the city people, NGOs, RWAs, trafficmen, corporate companies, and authorities are required. Only this can help Gurgaon become a Smart City and an exotic place for people to live and enjoy their stay here!

Sharing its border with the capital of the country the city of Gurgaon has grown rapidly from being a town in Haryana to becoming a very important commercial hub of the NCR region. The number of vehicles on the road is ever-increasing with the highest per capita income in the country. Traffic congestion is a regular sight and has become a menace for the people.

Apart from issues like slow speed of freight vehicles, fuel wastage and waiting time at toll plaza, transport congestion in Gurgaon has also lead to rising cases of Crime Against Women's. Lack of good roads combined with poor condition of service lanes, dug roads lead to lot of chaos and confusion every day which is further compounded with the advent of Monsoons.

After years of monitoring the facts of how to make sure the women safety we are still lacking in providing the safe environment. Damini, the name given to the girl who was brutally gang raped in a bus which reveals the sorry state of our city, which is ridden with Local Transport Problem. Although it is not restricted to one nation but the brutality of the incident shook up the whole world and even terming the NCR as a rape zone.

A lot of sexual abuse happen in public transport due to heavy rush and on the contrary due to lonely places and less crowded buses. There are many rape cases reported with the call centre cabs provided by the companies on contractual basis. Even in autos and buses due to absence of police and cameras a lot of sexual harassment takes place.  People do say generally that public transportation is safe but it all seems to be just an illusion with all these rising cases of women molestation and rape.

Authorities are often caught off guard as the city witnesses blocked drains and malfunctioning of traffic lights again encouraging crime as there is nobody monitoring the traffic. It is imperative that the public transport system be strengthened so that people are encouraged to use them. In order to develop a harmonious and safe environment for women as a society, the society needs to work towards it as a whole unit.

Local Transport Problem in Gurgaon

Posted by Gurgaon Renewal Mission On 00:13 | No comments
Gurgaon is honored as the Millennium City of India. This is just because of its competitive infrastructure and developing corporate. According to recent study this area is in the name of modernization. It has all dwelling places, from slums to skyscrapers. It offers home to everyone. But certain issues like public transport make one difficult to travel in Gurgaon. Inadequate public transport is not a new story for Gurgaon.

Driving inside Gurgaon wrecks hell for its residents. However, advent of metro has easily upgraded its connectivity with the rest of NCR, but when it comes to travelling within Gurgaon; the city grieves for a satisfying public transport arrangement. People are left with no options but rickshaws and shared autos which are not trustworthy and secure enough for all kinds of commuters.

If someone has tried using public transport in Gurgaon, can verify to the actuality of this being a depressing and problematic system. It inspires the population to buy and use their own vehicle, which only counts to the pollution and jam-packed roads.

By virtue of lacking public transport, travelers face hardships to reach from one place to other.
Traffic due to the Local Transport Problem has been diagnosed as one of the biggest severe concern dealt by Gurgaoites. The aspect of transport framework in the city has constantly deteriorated while the quantity of inbound and outbound traffic has obtained many folds resulting in to ceaseless roadblocks at crucial interjections.

Clumsily prepared and architecture road intersections, near-lack of public transport and deficient parking spaces, lacking contribution in the transport sector, have amalgamated the concern. The outcome is that we have expanded travel time, diminished aspects of living, elevated air pollution and hazardous travel conditions. Besides some basic roads, Gurgaon needs service lanes to boost convenience and escape traffic crisscrossing.

The Other Side of Glorious Gurgaon

Posted by Gurgaon Renewal Mission On 22:38 | No comments
Gurgaon, has emerged as a major industrial city. Last few years this place has witnessed with many glorious commercial/corporate buildings, metros, multiplexes, big fat residential complexes etc. But imagine a “street without light in the dark is like a ship without water” strange!! But our own Gurgaon is facing this non functional street light problem every now and then.

It is very sad to see that in one side we are growing in terms of economy, we paying tax on time but what we are getting are not enough. At least in terms of security dark nights are like invitation. Working women faces problem while commuting late evening/night. They used to commute with certain sense of fear with them.

Non Functional Street Light Problem is not ending to only women; even commuters of opposite gender feel the need of proper street lights so that any obstacles coming in between roads can be seen clearly. Problem is not ending here, locals, commuters are facing traffic problems due to heavy vehicles and additional population coming to Gurgaon for work, traffic increases because of lack of inadequate traffic sign boards too.

For city traffic to run smoothly adequate traffic sign boards are required, as it functions as a total guide for commuters. More traffic personnel are needed to resolve this issue. Commuters who takes metro route saves their much time but as soon as they step out from metro and take an auto or cab they too face similar problem of traffic which waste their time.

Several roads need to be analyzed again for improvement. Roads like: Subhash chowk, iffco chowk, Shankar chowk, huda city centre, signature tower junction etc. The city has shined as a glowing star from last few years, and to maintain this it is important that any short of problem is need to be solving as soon as possible. Proper planning is must to take place.

Inadequate Traffic Sign Boards, lack of traffic personnel are reason why traffic congestion takes place in peak hours.

Gurgaon Facing Shortage of Water & Power Supply

Posted by Gurgaon Renewal Mission On 02:21 | No comments
Gurgaon, popularly known as “The Millennium City”, faces water shortage during summers.  The demand for water supply is on high demand every summer, but the level of water supply is falling low. In Gurgaon, there is a huge gap in demand and supply of water following the growing population.

The city is growing so rapidly with modern infrastructure, metros, corporate offices, shopping malls etc, but at the other hand the basic reality is harsh. With this shortage and high demand of water, water tanks ferrying business is growing and turned one of the profitable businesses.

Inhabitants of are facing horror image of water shortage and Power Supply Problem in Gurgaon. Private water tanks are ferrying to residents and corporate offices, this also leads extra expenditure of the residents. With numerous uncontrolled constructions taking place all over, leads into a major penalty for the city as groundwater is running dry and turning into a mini desert.  Many corporate states are not harvesting rain water, which is very beneficial when water shortage.  But still this process is not in so much use.

Where Gurgaon is facing Water Supply Problem, at the other hand situation is not so different in the field of Electricity. Power cuts are the result of excess use of power supply. High demand of power supply arises during summers and in result power shortage takes place. One of the major reasons of power shortage is power theft and unauthorized extension of loads.

Traffic Congestion in Gurgaon

Posted by Gurgaon Renewal Mission On 03:12 | No comments
Yet another rainy day and the struggle reach office on time begin. I sit behind the steering wheel making plans for the day starting with an important meeting that I need to attend in the first hour of work. The moment my car reaches the main road, I am in a fix. I stare in amazement at the long queue of cars on each side of the road.

The traffic is bad and there is no way to get out of it. “No choice”, I said to myself and joined the band wagon. Sitting in the car moving inch by inch, I wonder, is this real face of the famed Millennium City of the country or is it just an extension of rural India deprived of the basic infrastructure? I also think as to whether there is any hope of improvement in the scenario. When I look around, I see a new shinning board of upcoming residential apartments or shopping complexes. The road in front was a sharp contrast to the promises and pictures about the developing city on the board.

Traffic Congestion in Gurgaon has become an increasingly big problem in now a days. These days, the problem has aggravated due to awful rains. Few days back, I read about one of the massive jams that occurred at the Ambience Mall and how the entire area around was affected because of this. Many residents of the city blame the mall management for the fiasco. But in reality the entire civic system is to be blamed for this failure.

Pot-holed roads not only provide bumpy ride but further slows down the traffic.  The result is ever increased waiting time on the roads. The lack of discipline on the road with people not adhering to lane driving, pedestrians crossing the roads at their whims and fancies does not help either. The faulty and choked drainage system leads to further water logging and adds to the traffic woes.

There is a compelling and urgent need to rectify the situation and take immediate corrective action. The civic bodies and the residents should jointly work to reduce this menace.
