Problems, problems, problems! Gurgaon’s name is synonymous to problems, assorted problems, general problems, traffic glitches, local transport problem, specific ones and more. Among all the problems, traffic problems top the chart, with people in the city certainly going for a roller coaster ride when they are out with their vehicles on roads. Traffic Congestion in Gurgaon is one of the worst problems the city people face not just during peak hours but during normal and irregular hours also.

The situation becomes worse than the worst (occasionally) due to religious processions, celebrations, marriage parties, and other such activities going around the city. The problem can be mainly attributed to the bumpy and unconstructed roads, ongoing repair works, ongoing sewerage repair and construction, seasonal repair & other works, narrow roads, bad transport map, traffic jams, lack of proper administration, lack of adequate infrastructure, disproportionately increasing population of vehicles to the numbers of people (generally a family of four usually either have 4 or at least more than 2 cars), local transport problem, people’s uncooperative behavior with the traffic administration and conditions following which they frequently flout traffic rules preferably in unmanned traffic posts, lack of adequate drainage systems which play foul during rains and make roads a bumpy and lethal rides for bikers and drivers, and more. Lack of proper and functional street and road lights also contribute their bit to traffic congestion in Gurgaon.

Local Transportation Problem also encourages the traffic conditions to go worse during peak and off-peak hours in all the major entry and exit points of the city including Delhi-Gurgaon Toll Plaza, Shankar Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Kapashera Border, Badarpur Border, and Faridabad joint among the others. People, especially women do not rely on public transport vehicles and prefer to travel in their own vehicles in the fear of inadequate police patrolling and checks on them, dark/wee times, rising crimes against women, less or no connectivity at all in some areas, and low frequency and slow service of city buses.

Since the normal and routine life of the city gets severely affected, Gurgaon Renewal Mission, an autonomous body and mission run under the courtesies of HUDA Administration and Gurgaon’s deputy/municipal/police commissioners and councillors and mayor, has taken up the matter to invent and implement the effective traffic solutions which battle against the bottlenecks of traffic congestion problem while simultaneously improving the local transport system and administration, conditions of roads, drainage systems, and more.

To help this movement succeed in this mission, a diehard and continuous support and cooperation from the city people, NGOs, RWAs, trafficmen, corporate companies, and authorities are required. Only this can help Gurgaon become a Smart City and an exotic place for people to live and enjoy their stay here!
